For NRIs & global Indians

Online therapy for Indians living abroad

Pooja Sahitya is a counseling psychologist and psychotherapist in India who works online with NRIs and global Indians across time zones, with flexible evening and weekend slots, sessions in English, Hindi, or Sindhi, and a free introductory consultation.

Why it matters

A therapist who doesn't need the backstory explained

Living far from home changes what you carry, and finding a therapist abroad who genuinely understands where you come from can be its own struggle. As one client put it: "Finding a therapist who understands my cultural background was always a challenge abroad."

Culturally fluent

Family expectations, career pressure, marriage conversations, duty towards parents back home: these don't need translating or justifying. We can start from where you actually are.

Across time zones

Flexible slots, including evenings and weekends, to fit your schedule, whether you're in the US, UK, Europe, the Gulf, Singapore, or Australia.

In your language

Sessions in English, Hindi, or Sindhi, whichever lets you say what you actually mean.

Consistent wherever you are

Online sessions via secure video call mean therapy stays steady through travel, relocations, and everything in between.

What we can work on

The things that get heavier far from home

Pooja works with individuals navigating stress, anxiety and depression, relationship and family issues, work-related stress and burnout, self-esteem, trauma and grief, emotional regulation, and premarital counseling, with over 2,400 hours of clinical training and 14 years of experience across corporate and therapeutic work.

Her approach draws on Transactional Analysis, somatic work, and experiential methods: understanding the patterns that shape how you relate to yourself and others, noticing how stress lives in the body, and, when there is enough safety, gently working with inner experience so old survival patterns can become more flexible, supportive choices. You can read more about how therapy with her works.

Alongside one-to-one therapy, Pooja also facilitates confidential support groups where individuals with shared experiences, like grief, come together, because deep healing happens when our pain is witnessed and understood by others.

I've gone through many therapists over the last few years, but Pooja is one that I've not only stuck with, but I look forward to sessions with her! There have been many times where she's said something during the session and it's stuck with me for days, even weeks after. I fully recommend Pooja, and I want to thank her for the work she's doing as well!
